Fish gravy - Thenga (coconut) araichathu


Ingredients:

fish (tilapia) 500g
coconut grated 3/4cup
turmeric powder 1/4tsp
red chillie powder 1/2tsp.
black pepper powder 1/2tsp.
garlic 1 clove
cumin seeds 1/2tsp.
green chillie 2 sliced
salt
tamarind water 1/4cup
curry leaves for garnishing

Method:

1. Clean and cut the fish. Marinate with little salt and turmeric powder for 10mins.

2. In a blender add coconut, turmeric powder, chillie powder, pepper powder, cumin seeds and garlic and make it to a fine paste.

3. In a kadai, add the marinated fish and the coconut paste along with green chillies, tamarind water, necessary salt and curry leaves.

4. Cook in high flame. Once the gravy started boiling, reduce the flame to medium and cook for 10-15mins.

5. Turn off the flame and cover it for 10mins and then serve with rice.
