Chicken Biryani




Ingredients:

Chicken - 1/4kg

flavoured rice - 1 cup

Onion - 2 (sliced)
tomatoes 4 medium chopped

ginger garlic paste - 1 tspoon

coriander leaves chopped - 1 handful

pudina leaves - 1 handful

cardamom (white) - 1

cardamom(black) -1

cinnamon sticks-2

glove - 2

bay leaf - 1

green chillie - 2

salt

chillie powder - 2 tspoons

coriander powder - 1tspoon

cumin powder - 1 tspoon

lemon juice - 1/2 lemon


Method:

1. Soak the flavoured rice in water for 1/2 an hour.

2. Heat the pressure cooker and add oil and all the whole garam masalas and fry for 30secs. Now add the ginger garlic paste and onions and saute till golden brown. Add chopped tomatoes to this and saute till the tomatoes are well mashed and mixed in the mixture.

3. Add the chopped coriander leaves and the pudina leaves and saute for 1 min. To this, add salt, chillie powder, coriander powder and cumin powder and stir for 5-7mins.

4. Now add the chicken and mix well. Let it cook for 2 mins. Add 2 cups of water and lemon juice.

5. Add the rice.

6. When it starts to boil, close the cooker and cook till 2 whistles.

Serve hot with chicken fry and onion raitha or with chicken gravy.
