Murungaikeerai (drumstick leaves) thoran


Ingredients:

leaves of drumstick tree (murungai keerai) 2 cups
onion 1 chopped
coconut grated 1/2 cup
turmeric powder 2 pinches
salt
chillie powder 2 tsps
jeera 2 pinches
garlic 2 cloves

Method:

1. Heat oil in a kadai and add chopped onions. Saute till golden yellow.

2. Add the drumstick leaves and saute again. Sprinkle little water to it while sauting. Saute for 10-15 mins by sprinkling little water often.

3. In between grind the coconut in the blender by adding turmeric powder, salt, chillie powder, jeera and garlic , coarsely.

4. Once the leaves got cooked add this coconut mixture and mix well till raw smell of the chillie powder disappears.

Serve with rice. Tastes good in combination with sambar rice and theeyal rice.
